The name "Green River" was not available for use because the rights were already purchased. Rob is distilling under the name "John McCulloch Distillery", it was our great grandfather's name, our father's name and is Rob's legal name. The family history has EVERYTHING to do with his distilling interest and his strong belief in family. His web site was a project under taken with his youngest son, Brian, who is now 10. As far as LOCAL is concered, Rob was born, raised and lives in Cincinnati (when he is in town), his BUSINESSES operate out of Morrow and Martinsville. I hope this clears up the misconceptions posted.

We did not enter our Rum in the worls spirits Compitition this year but are sure the old way of distilling Makes the best Rum. We do sell our Mountain Dew {American Vodka) and American Recipe 1776 Rum In Ohio and Florida I have not had one club/store owner who tasted ours against any top shelf choose other than ours. Guess the old way is best Cheers Rob McCulloch 937-725-5588

Amidst the Capitol Hill brawl currently underway between the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico over rum tax revenues, an organization known for its reparations initiatives with Denmark is making its own ripples over a refusal by rum companies to disclose slavery era corporate ties. Adding to the brouhaha, a letter to the editor regarding Cruzan Rum’s dark past is published online and in just a matter of days it has been read by more than a thousand readers. The group’s Facebook notes on the issue have generated scores of comments. Fortune Brands, the corporate owners of Cruzan Rum, weeks ago inked a deal with the Virgin Islands government making them the newest beneficiary of the rum tax revenues. A whopping 46% of all the taxes collected on the sale of Cruzan Rum in U.S. markets are returned to Fortune, while Diageo, the British company at the center of war between the territories receives only 45% of the taxes on the sale of its Captain Morgan rum.

Noting that the U.S. House of Representatives—the same governmental body authorizing rum tax revenues for the USVI—on July 29, 2009 apologized to black Americans, more than 140 years after slavery was abolished, for the "fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow" segregation; the Virgin Islands based African-Caribbean Reparations and Resettlement Alliance (ACRRA) has suggested that it may also be appropriate for the producers of Cruzan Rum to consider a formal apology to the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands for such historical injustices as slavery and the uncompensated labor contributed by enslaved Africans at the Estate Diamond home of the world’s number one rum brand. However, a letter to Illinois based Fortune Brands from the organization’s president requesting the company’s historical ties to the institution of slavery be disclosed has been answered with a denial of any involvement in the inhumane trade.
